Hole 5 Castanwydden
White 348 yds Par 4 Stroke Index 4
Yellow 332 yds
Red 271 yds Par 4 Stroke Index 1
On paper a relatively short hole for such a low stroke index, but not only is it a dogleg, but it has a wall thrown in for good measure.
The drive is from an elevated tee, across a valley to a narrow fairway. The fairway has a wall on the left, and a clump of mature trees on the right.
The green is past the end of the wall and to the left. A short drive leaves a blind second shot, or a lay-up, while taking on the trees provides a view of the green for that second shot.
The green has bunkers left and right, and two levels - being on the right one is critical for that birdy chance. |
